WHAT THIS IS
AND WHO RUNS IT

Boeing Watch is an independent accountability dashboard for The Boeing Company. It is operated by one person, in public, under their own name, against a documented methodology, with a standing corrections policy. It carries no advertising, no analytics tracking, no sponsorships, and no financial relationship of any kind with Boeing, its suppliers, the Federal Aviation Administration, or any party regulated by the FAA.

THE MISSION
§ 01

The Boeing Company manufactures aircraft that carry more than two and a half million people per day. Its conduct is a matter of public concern. Its safety record is a matter of public record. Its regulators are a matter of public record. The financial press tracks its stock; the trade press tracks its production figures; the wire services track its press releases. Until now, no single English-language site has tracked the in-service difficulties of its airframes against a fixed methodology and a fixed corrections policy.

Boeing Watch exists to do exactly that. The mission is narrow and stated three ways so that it cannot be quietly broadened:

  • To publish, on a fixed cadence, the public-record events that bear on the question of whether Boeing aircraft are being designed, manufactured, and maintained at a standard consistent with the company's stated commitments and its regulatory obligations.
  • To do so against a methodology that is itself published, dated, and versioned — so that a reader, a regulator, a lawyer, or a journalist may inspect not only the numbers but the rules that produced them.
  • To correct mistakes promptly, in public, with the original wording preserved — so that the site's honesty over time may be audited by anyone who chooses to.

Boeing Watch does not seek to bring Boeing down, to lobby for any particular regulatory outcome, to short its stock, or to recruit a constituency against the company. It is not an advocacy organisation. It is an instrument of record.

THE EDITOR
§ 02

The editor of Boeing Watch is Donald, who operates the site under the imprint Harrow Lab. Donald is the named, accountable author of every line of editorial copy on this site that is not the product of one of the listed automated agents, and the named, accountable operator of every agent.

Donald is not a current or former Boeing employee. Donald is not a current or former employee of Spirit AeroSystems, of any Boeing first-tier supplier, of any U.S. or foreign civil aviation authority, of the U.S. Department of Transportation, or of any law firm currently retained by parties to Boeing-related litigation. Donald is not licensed in any jurisdiction as an aviation engineer, an A&P mechanic, an air traffic controller, or a commercial pilot. Donald reads the public record carefully and publishes what is in it.

Donald may be reached at corrections@boeingwatch.org for matters of correction, at the same address for press inquiries, and at the same address for legal correspondence. There is no other contact channel. There is no telephone number. There is no street address published for the site; Boeing Watch is not a place, it is a record.

DECLARED CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
§ 03

Honest accounts of conflict are short. Here is the honest one.

Securities
The editor holds no shares, options, futures, or other derivatives of The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA), Spirit AeroSystems (NYSE: SPR), or any named Boeing supplier or competitor (including Airbus SE, RTX Corporation, General Electric, Embraer, and Bombardier). No short positions are held against any of these names. To the editor's knowledge, no broad-market index fund the editor holds carries a material BA weighting; if that changes, this entry will be updated within seven days.
Employment
The editor has never been employed by Boeing or any subsidiary thereof, by Spirit AeroSystems, by any Boeing first-tier supplier, by the Federal Aviation Administration, by the National Transportation Safety Board, or by any commercial airline or aviation manufacturer of any nationality.
Consulting and contractual
The editor holds no consulting contracts, advisory engagements, expert-witness retainers, or paid speaking arrangements with any party named in §03 (Securities) or §03 (Employment), and has held none in the past five years.
Funding
Boeing Watch is funded out of the editor's own pocket. Recurring infrastructure costs are paid for personally and are itemized in BUDGET.md in the source repository. The site accepts no advertising. The site accepts no sponsorship. The site solicits no donations and has no donation mechanism. If a future funding model is adopted, this entry will be rewritten before the model takes effect, not after.
Personal relationships
The editor has no immediate family member employed by any party named in §03 (Securities) or §03 (Employment). Should that change, this entry will be updated within seven days and the editor will recuse from any entry specifically concerning that party.
Litigation
The editor is not a party to litigation against The Boeing Company or any related entity, has never been, and is not aware of any present cause that would change this.
STANDING DISCLOSURE  If any item in this section changes, the change is reflected here within seven calendar days, with the previous wording recorded in the corrections log. The same procedure applies as for any other correction.
HOW THIS SITE IS PUT TOGETHER
§ 04

The front page is a static HTML document served from Cloudflare's global edge. It carries no third-party tracking, no advertising network, no analytics SDK, and no social-platform pixels. Aggregate, privacy-preserving traffic statistics are collected via Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not set cookies and does not identify individual visitors.

Live data — the count of 737 MAX aircraft in the sky, the current BA share price, the latest Service Difficulty Reports — is pulled from named upstream sources at the cadences described in Methodology. When an upstream source is unreachable, the front page falls back to the most recent snapshot embedded in the page and switches the topbar indicator from LIVE to SNAPSHOT. No live counter on this site ever invents a value.

Routine writing is performed by a small set of named automated agents, each with a published prompt, a documented schedule, and a single narrowly-defined job. The prompts are stored in /agent-prompts in the source repository and are versioned alongside the methodology. The agents are:

SDR Beat Reporter
Normalizes raw FAA Service Difficulty Reports into the canonical sentence stem. Runs hourly. Model: Claude Haiku 4.5.
Diarist
Writes the daily diary entry from the previous twenty-four hours of records. Runs at 04:00 UTC. Model: Claude Sonnet 4.6.
Anomaly Editor
Detects statistical departures from the thirty-day baseline by aircraft type and JASC code. Runs nightly. No language model; statistics only.
FOIA Clerk
Drafts FOIA request letters from detected anomalies for human approval. Never auto-sends. Editorial gate is the editor's review.
Fact-Checker
Weekly audit of the past seven days of published entries against the current methodology. Flags inconsistencies for correction.
Wire Operator
Posts new severe events to Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads on a sixty-minute delay. Template-based; no language model in the loop.
Compositor
Renders the previous day's diary, map, and SDR list as a four-page PDF and publishes it to the wire archive.

Editorial responsibility for every line published on this site, automated or not, rests with the named editor. The agents are tools. They are not authors.

THE FOUR CREDIBILITY CONSTANTS
§ 05

This site is built around four practices that, in the editor's reading, distinguish work that survives legal pressure from work that does not. They are stated here as a public commitment.

  • A named, accountable author. See §02.
  • A published methodology. See /methodology.
  • A standing corrections policy. See /corrections.
  • Sourced citations on every numeric claim. See /sources.

If any of these four conditions ceases to hold, the affected pages will be unpublished until the condition is restored. The four are not aspirational. They are operating preconditions.
